Kathryn Kastan, MSW, MAEd, LCSW, is a psychotherapist with more than two decades of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She seeks to foster insight into difficult experiences, longstanding patterns, and relationship dynamics while helping clients move forward with greater understanding and confidence. She works with clients facing relationship concerns, anxiety, grief, caregiving responsibilities, and life transitions.
Kathryn earned a Master of Social Work degree and a Master of Arts in Education from Washington University. Throughout her career, she has worked in healthcare and private practice settings, helping clients address a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. In addition to her clinical work, Kathryn has been a dedicated advocate for women’s health, serving in leadership roles with national organizations and healthcare systems.
Kathryn’s style is direct, thoughtful, and engaging. She brings warmth and humor to difficult conversations while helping clients make sense of their experiences and relate to others more effectively. Her approach is collaborative and tailored to the unique needs and goals of each client. She believes that many of the patterns that shape our lives and relationships have their roots in early experiences and important relationships. While these patterns often develop for understandable reasons, they can sometimes keep us stuck in ways of thinking, relating, and communicating that no longer serve us. By understanding these patterns, clients can begin to make changes that support healthier relationships, more effective communication, and overall well-being.
Kathryn is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, including the North Carolina State Health Plan. For clients who choose not to use insurance, the fee is $200 per session.
Superbills are available for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement, depending on the terms of their plan. Because insurance reimbursement requires a mental health diagnosis, some clients prefer not to use insurance in order to maintain greater flexibility and privacy in their care.
